BAR Beach Bowling and Sporting Club chairman Darryl Lowe says the club is in an excellent position, despite a scathing report from its governing body after an audit. The Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR) detected 21 breaches and issued 18 compliance notices after an investigation of the beachside club. The 21 liquor and gaming breaches resulted in authority inspectors issuing three penalty notices totalling $2750 and 18 compliance notices, which are formal warnings. The breaches were: Failing to comply with licence conditions (13 counts relating to events held at the club). Failing to switch off a faulty gaming machine. Failing to keep a record of the dates gaming machine prizes were awarded/paid (six counts). Failing to display notices showing the chances of winning a gaming machine jackpot. The investigation was in response to a complaint by some board members about alleged maladministration."OLGR inspectors carried out a comprehensive audit of the club, reviewing financial and board records and interviewing club personnel," an authority spokesman said."The audit detected 21 liquor and gaming breaches resulting in the issuing of three penalty notices and 18 compliance notices."No evidence was detected to support allegations of maladministration."Mr Lowe said breaches of the licence conditions were 21st birthday parties not being signed off by a director, and the poker machine had a sign on it saying it was faulty but wasn't switched off."Other breaches of the licence was because two of the directors didn't have their RSA [responsible service of alcohol] certificates, and one of them still doesn't," Mr Lowe said. "The main thing is we've addressed the issues and the club is going really well."
